The NEW Google Drive

I was beginning to think we were never going to see the new Google Drive in NewZealand and that my blog post about the new drive was starting to look a bit phoney. Finally... the improved Google Drive is here for us to get familiar with.

Here are a few new things to try out and get used to.

As I said before, the big red NEW button has replaced the COMPOSE button from before. This compose feature often confused users until they got used to the functionality.

The SHARED WITH ME button has been replaced by INCOMING.

Folders are displayed in a wider view option and files not yet filed into folders are shown as visual snapshots, which it makes it much quicker to do the filing when you have a few moments. It saves me time because I don't have to open the files to recall what they're about or where they are supposed to go.

View options have been expanded. These can be accesses in the top right-hand corner with a drop-down menu available for each of the options.

Grid view or list view are available for all the folders in the drive.

Folders can be organised in 4 different ways, all in alphabetical order.

The sharing settings URL to a file or folder is now easily accessible by clicking on the link icon:

More options are easily accessed here:
Another drop-down menu provides easy options previously available by right-clicking on the file or folder.

How are you finding the new Google Drive? Leave me a comment if you have found a smart way to make use of the new features.
